‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ is coming to Australia

The internationally acclaimed comedy sensation, ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’, is set to return to Australia in 2025 for its 10th Anniversary Tour.

This uproarious production has delighted audiences worldwide and will commence its Australian leg at the Sydney Opera House from June 19 to August 3, 2025. Following the Sydney season, the tour will continue to the Gold Coast’s Home of the Arts (HOTA) from August 6 to 10, Toowoomba’s Empire Theatre from August 12 to 15, Newcastle’s Civic Theatre from August 19 to 31, and Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre from September 3 to 21.

‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ is a side-splitting blend of Monty Python-esque humour and a classic whodunnit. The narrative follows the hapless Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society as they attempt to stage a 1920s murder mystery, only to have everything that could go wrong, go disastrously awry. From collapsing sets to forgotten lines, the production is a masterclass in comedic timing and physical comedy.

‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ is created by Mischief Theatre, led by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields. Known for their clever and chaotic humor, the team, along with director Mark Bell and set designer Nigel Hook, has crafted a show where every hilarious disaster is perfectly timed for maximum laughs.

Celebrated as the longest-running comedy in London’s West End, the show has garnered numerous accolades, including the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.

Given the show’s global popularity and previous sold-out performances, theatre enthusiasts are encouraged to secure their seats promptly.
