QSE’s Shakespeare Shorts bring back ‘Shakespeare Pick and (re)Mix!’
What would you get if Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet all walk into a bar? Well, Queensland Shakespeare Ensembles’ fun and quirky production, ‘Shakespeare Pick and (re)Mix!’.
Presented by QSE’s Shakespeare’s Shorts team, this beloved show transforms Shakespeare’s most popular works into highly physical, bite-size fun in an interactive event where the audience chooses which short makes the stage.
Calling all Shakespeare lovers and loathers, and everyone in between, the exciting work returns to the stage, presented as part of Brisbane’s new Fringe Festival. Audiences first saw ‘Pick and (re)Mix’ back in May, when it debuted as part of the Anywhere Festival at West End’s The Loft. Now the show that’s described as “an easily accessible professional production” returns for two nights only this October.
The show presents hijinks, musical interludes, dance numbers, and wooden-sword-wheeling, all with QSE’s trademark clarity and precision. Shakespeare’s Shorts is QSE’s program that features energetic versions of Shakespeare’s famous original texts, performed by a group of 4-5 classically trained actors. Presented at The Elements Collective in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, ‘Shakespeare Pick and (re)Mix!’ stars Angus Thorburn, Leah Fitzgerald-Quinn, Rebekah Schmidt, Liliana Macarone, Rebecca Murphy and Dudley Powell.
Directed by Rebecca Murphy, the show promises a night of rambunctious laughter and ridiculous antics.
Catch the show on two nights only, on Friday, 14 October 2022 and Friday, 21 October 2022. The production runs for 60 minutes, with tickets priced at $15.00 for Concessions and $20.00 for General Admission.
