Every Ting Or No Ting
Singaporean born comedian Ting Lim is performing her debut stand-up show ‘Every Ting or No Ting’ at this year’s Brisbane Comedy Festival from May 24-29 at Brisbane Powerhouse.
‘Every Ting or No Ting’ explores the reasons behind Ting’s annoyance with the world and her inability to let go of things. Growing up in Singapore, Ting was brought up with two values – to be patient and that it is never too late for revenge.
Throw into the mix a dysfunctional family where conflict management skills are optional, you get Ting. Where is the line between sticking to your guns and blowing things out of proportion? Is gluing your neighbour’s mailbox shut a good way of dealing with unreasonable neighbours?
Ting asks herself that every day as she holds it in for the good of mankind, only to turn into a Pitbull at the most inopportune of moments. Should she keep her measured façade and turn her rage inward, or let it out and burn some bridges? For too long she has felt like a doormat, but is it wise to let her raging thoughts run wild?
Brace yourselves for an hour of laughs as Ting looks inwards to deal with her anger. Will she be able to keep her fury at bay or decide once and for all to let the floodgates open? Either way, you’ll be caught in the crosshairs of Ting’s spontaneous stand-up and wit.
Lim has been a beloved favourite on the Brisbane comedy scene since 2009, when she was handpicked to represent Queensland in the prestigious RAW national comedy finals. Her momentum never faltered and she, once again, represented her home state in the coveted “Green Faces” national competition in the same year.
Lim is also a regular at the Sit Down Comedy Club and has performed all over Australia and Singapore, supporting the likes of Jimeoin, Matt Okine and more.
