Opera Australia and Crossroads Live’s ‘Cinderella’ postponed to 2022

Lyndon Terracini for Opera Australia and John Frost for Crossroads Live announced that due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, they have made the difficult decision to move the Tony® Award-winning Broadway production of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’ into 2022.

This sad news comes after recent excitement was built over the launch of the production, previously scheduled to play this year. New dates have now been secured at the Sydney Lyric Theatre from October next year. Current ticket ticketholders, who purchased for the 2021 season, will be contacted regarding ticket exchanges in the next few days via email from either Ticketmaster or Opera Australia.

Rodgers + Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’ is the Tony Award ® winning Broadway musical from the creators of The Sound of Music that delighted Broadway audiences. Described to have some “contemporary twists” that audiences will love, ‘Cinderella’ features incredible orchestrations, jaw-dropping transformations and all the moment’s audiences hold dear from the classic story.  This lush production has everything from the pumpkin, the glass slipper, the masked ball and more! Audiences are encouraged to discover some of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including In “My Own Little Corner”, “Impossible/It’s Possible” and “Ten Minutes Ago”.

This is a romantic and exciting experience for anyone who’s ever had a dream. Producers John Frost and Lyndon Terracini look forward to sharing Rodgers + Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’, one of the most loved musicals of all time, with Australian audiences in 2022.

For those interested in purchasing tickets to the 2022 production, a waitlist is now open for those wanting to purchase tickets once they go on sale to the general public.
