Gold Coast secures Australian Premiere of ‘Friends! The Musical Parody’
The Australian Premiere of the hilarious New York and Las Vegas hit, ‘Friends! The Musical Parody’ will premiere at the Gold Coast in 2021.
Guaranteed to be there for you in the new year, fans will be pleased to know the national tour will open at The Star Gold Coast on 11 February 2021, with seasons to follow in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.
After an epic year of show-pivots and postponements due to the pandemic, SK Entertainment will bring the show to Australian audiences eager to relive moments from the hit TV show. Producer, Sam Klingner, commented on his delight on welcoming the hilarious musical to his home state.
“After rescheduling our tour twice, and seeing it hasn’t quite been anyone’s day, month or year, we couldn’t be more thrilled to be finally presenting the Australian premiere of this hilarious musical,” Klingner said.
“To be able to open the show and share it with audiences in my home state of Queensland is particularly special.”
While casting is yet to be announced, the creative team behind the show include direction by Dash Kruck, choreography by Camera by Cameron Mitchell, set and costume design by Frances Hannaway, lighting design by Jason Glenwright and musical direction by Steven Kreamer.
‘Friends! The Musical Parody’ follows your six favourite friends in a seemingly typical day in their New York coffee shop, Central Perk. That’s until an unexpected runaway bride enters the picture and kicks the whole gang out of second gear!
In an evening of hilarity, this new musical lovingly lampoons the beloved NBC sitcom. With Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Phoebe at the helm, ‘Friends! The Musical Parody’ celebrates the misadventures of our favourite group of 20-something pals as they navigate the pitfalls of work, life and love in 1990s Manhattan.
The script plucks the best moments of the show’s decade long run and recreates them in an uncensored, fast-paced, musical romp.
‘Friends! The Musical Parody’ performs from Thursday, 11 February until Saturday, 13 February 2021 at The Star Gold Coast. All tickets are $79.90 (including GST and Service Fees) and additional transaction fees may apply.
