Australia’s Best Indigenous Artists are heading to the Gold Coast
On December 14, Home of the Arts (HOTA) Gold Coast will present an inspiring concert featuring some of Australia’s best present and emerging artists, in ‘Deadly Hearts: A Celebration of Australian Indigenous Music’.
Presented in collaboration with ABC Music and inspired by their Deadly Hearts album, this concert is from the hearts and mouths of a cross-generation of Indigenous Australians.
The show features big names such as four-time ARIA accredited platinum seller and one of Australia’s hottest singer-songwriters, Jessica Mauboy, who is the co-headliner alongside Archie Roach, one of the most respected Indigenous Musical Artists of our generation.
Audiences will also embrace the heartfelt writing and soulful musicality from Aodhan, who was honoured to win triple j’s Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative; Gold Coast and Brisbane-based psychedelic art rock band, Selve, will also take to the stage creating narrative driven music from Indigenous lead singer songwriter, Loki Liddle, and lead musical composer, Harry Edwards.
Making waves in the Australian bass music scene is HWVKS, who will bring it down with his unique sounds ranging from melodic future bass to heavy hitting trap beats. Brisbane-based funny woman and comedian, Steph Tisdell, has also just been announced as MC of ‘Deadly Hearts’, with another big name in music being added to the bill in the coming weeks.
HOTA CEO, Criena Gehrke, said the concert will be one of the many highlights people can expect from HOTA’s music programming.
“Deadly Hearts will be a celebration of heartfelt music, culture and stories from some of Australia’s best First Nations artists performing here on our stage,” she said.
“It’s a huge coup for the Gold Coast to host such a meaningful concert, that welcomes such an incredible calibre of talent to our city.”
The ‘Deadly Hearts’ concert will take place at HOTA’s Outdoor Stage on Saturday, 14 December from 3.30 pm. Part of HOTA’s huge summer series themed HOME, this concert will feature as part of the 20 exciting events and activities over 15 days from December 1 to 15.
